We were delighted to welcome Aishah Bax for a week of work experience with the team at Centre for Dentistry Preston last month.
Aishah is 17 years old and a student at Cardinal Newman College, Preston studying A level Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. She is interested in becoming a dentist having also thought about Optometry and Medicine following her GCSE results (8 A*’s and 2 A’s). She will complete her A levels this year, then hopes to go on to study dentistry at university in Manchester or Liverpool after that.
Aishah has already completed work experience at a Pharmacy and Opticians this year, which was not part of her A levels, but she arranged this herself to gain industry experience.
Aishah has worked with both Vanisha and Oktay, the two dentists at CFD Preston, and found them very open and friendly. She was particularly impressed with the level of communication between them and their patients.
“I have enjoyed the week at CFD Preston, where I was able to observe patient check-ups as well as many dental treatments such as extractions and root canal treatments. The experience has made me more convinced that dentistry is for me. Everyone works really well as a team, the surgeries are modern, and the overall environment is really friendly and welcoming”
Dr Vanisha Patel, pictured above with Aishah, says:
“I hope this has helped Aishah confirm that dentistry is the right choice for her. Work experience is a valuable part of learning, and Aishah has shown great commitment and motivation during her week with us. It’s great to see young people with such a passion for dentistry!”
